Lady Officer Cadet Chathurangani, from the Sri Lanka Army was able to earn notable victory in the Long Jump, securing the Gold Medal and Lady Officer Cadet Savindi of the Sri Lanka Air Force distinguished herself by winning two bronze medals in the 50 m freestyle and 100 m backstroke competitions at the 4th CISM Military World Cadet Games, held in Venezuela which was from 16 to 24 August.
The CISM Military World Cadet Games is a prestigious international event organised by the International Military Sports Council (CISM), where Military Cadets from around the world compete in various sports disciplines. This year, the Games saw participation from leading countries, including Russia, China, and Venezuela, providing a platform for young military athletes to perform their sporting talents and represent their nations.
A contingent of 10 military cadets representing the Triforces of Sri Lanka participated in different sports disciplines at the Games.
These victories are among the pinnacle achievements in international military sports arena and upon their return to Sri Lanka, Lady Officer Cadets Chathurangani and Savindi were greeted with a warm reception at Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday (27) by representatives of the Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Air Force, who recognised their outstanding accomplishments.
