Minister of Public Administration Prof. Chandana Abeyratne has criticised the ongoing trade union action by Grama Niladhari officers, stating that the government has already proposed solutions to their demands.

The Minister stated that the issue of the GN officers’ fuel allowance is expected to be addressed through the upcoming Budget.

The Grama Niladhari Trade Union Alliance began the trade union action on 10 and 11 August, citing several demands. Alliance Chairman Nandana Ranasinghe stated that the action would continue if the government does not provide a solution.
