Electricity restoration in Colombo 9, Colombo 14 and several areas in Gampaha has been delayed due to an ongoing trade union action by Ceylon Electricity Board employees.

Trade unions noted that the 24-hour strike began at 3.00 p.m. yesterday (09) over several demands, including issues related to appointments following the restructuring of the CEB.

Chairman of the CEB Technical Engineers’ Union, Kosala Abeysinghe, stated that the action will intensify if solutions are not provided.
