Sarvajana Balaya leader and MP Dilith Jayaweera met International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief for Sri Lanka Evan Papageorgiou during his visit to the country, with discussions focusing on Sri Lanka’s economic recovery and ongoing reforms.

Jayaweera said the two exchanged views on the challenges facing the country and the importance of sustaining reforms needed to build a stronger and more resilient economy.

The meeting came as an IMF team led by Papageorgiou concluded a visit to Sri Lanka from 10-23 September for discussions on the Seventh Review under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and the 2026 Article IV Consultation.
