A low-pressure area has formed over the southern Andaman Sea, near the North Sumatra islands, at around 11.30 a.m.today(29), the Department of Meteorology stated.

The system is likely to develop into a depression over the south-eastern Bay of Bengal and surrounding areas around 31 October before intensifying further and moving towards India’s Andhra Pradesh coast.

Sea areas covered by the advisory may experience rough conditions, with wind speeds increasing to around 55 kmph at times.

Naval and fishing communities operating in the affected sea areas have been urged to remain vigilant and follow future weather forecasts and bulletins issued by the department.
