The final rites of former Minister Mahinda Wijesekera will be held on Saturday, 4 April. 

The prominent political figure from the Southern Province passed away this morning at the age of 83.  

According to his son, former Minister Kanchana Wijesekera, the cremation will take place at the Matara crematorium at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. 

The remains will be placed at the family residence in Matara in the afternoon.  

Wijesekera, who endured long-term health issues following injuries sustained in a LTTE terrorist suicide bomb attack in Godapitiya, Matara, in 2009, continued his public service despite his injuries.
