Fourteen major reservoirs and 11 medium-sized reservoirs across Sri Lanka have reached spill level due to heavy rainfall, according to the Department of Irrigation.
Spill gates have been opened at five major reservoirs, including Deduru Oya, Rajanganaya, Kimbulwana Oya, Abakola Wewa and Alikota Ara, to release excess water.
Two medium-sized reservoirs have also opened their spill gates, while nine others have reached spill level. Authorities are continuing to monitor water levels amid the prevailing heavy rains.
