Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday (16), visited Gampola this morning to observe the destruction caused by Cyclone Ditwah.
Gampola is one of the hardest-hit areas affected by the cyclone's devastating impact. Georgieva and her delegation arrived in the country yesterday afternoon and are assessing the disaster's aftermath firsthand.
After her visit to Gampola, Georgieva is scheduled to return to Colombo, where she will hold discussions today with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister (PM) Harini Amarasuriya, Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, and other senior officials.
These high-level meetings will focus on how the IMF can extend support to Sri Lanka’s recovery efforts and help build a resilient future for the nation in the wake of the cyclone.
