The Cabinet has approved a proposal to procure 20,000 metric tonnes of prilled urea fertiliser for the 2026 agricultural season.
The fertiliser will be used for paddy cultivation and the production of mixed fertiliser for other crops.
The procurement will be carried out by the State Fertiliser Company through an international competitive bidding process.
The move aims to maintain adequate fertiliser stocks for the 2026/2027 Maha season.
