- Set to celebrate a decade of golfing for a cause
The 11th Dialog Club Vision Rotary Par 3 Golf Classic, organised by the Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan (RCCM) in partnership with title sponsor Dialog Club Vision, will be held at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) on 24 October.
The event was announced at a press conference held at the RCGC on 14 October.
The tournament features a distinctive format in which the club’s traditional 18-hole course is transformed into a par-54 layout, with each hole played as a par three. The format challenges golfers’ precision, distance control and skills around the greens, while offering opportunities to score a birdie or a hole-in-one on every hole.
The tournament has become an established fixture on the golfing calendar, combining competitive play with fundraising for charitable causes. Players will compete in two sessions, with tee-off times scheduled for 7 a.m. and noon.
Over the years, the Rotary Par 3 Golf Classic has grown into one of RCCM’s flagship fundraising initiatives, supporting projects that benefit communities across the country.
Commenting on the club’s contribution, RCCM President Joevinie Machado said, ‘’as we celebrate the eleventh edition of the Rotary Par 3 Classic, we are reminded that this event is about much more than golf. It represents what can be achieved when individuals, businesses and communities come together with a shared commitment to making a difference. We are deeply grateful to Dialog Club Vision, the RCGC, our corporate partners and the golfers who have continued to support this initiative.’’
Dialog Axiata Chief of Group Customer Experience Ayomal Gunasekara said the tournament’s continued success demonstrated the wider impact of sport.
He said, ‘’Dialog Club Vision is proud to support both the RCCM and the Rotary Par 3 Golf Classic as it marks its 11th edition. Having supported this initiative over the past nine years, and as the title sponsor for the second successive year, we’ve witnessed the lasting impact that strong partnerships can create for communities here.’’
Bank of Ceylon, the tournament’s gold partner for the second consecutive year, reaffirmed its commitment to community initiatives through its Chief Marketing Officer Sameera Liyanage. RCGC Captain Mahela Jayawardene also addressed the event.
