The Dialog Schools Rugby Awards 2025, held recently, celebrated the extraordinary talent and passion for schools rugby across Sri Lanka following a highly competitive season. 

The Dialog Schools Rugby League, widely regarded as the most competitive school sporting event in the country, brought together over 90 schools and 2,700 players across three divisions.



Segment ‘A’


In the elite Segment ‘A’ of Division 1, Trinity College, Kandy cemented their status as Cup Champions after a memorable campaign to be crowned League Champions after a 38-year hiatus. Wesley College, Colombo finished as runners-up after 22 years. 

The Plate title went to D.S. Senanayake College, ahead of runner-up St. Joseph’s College. Meanwhile, St. Anthony’s College, Kandy triumphed in the Bowl category, with Mahanama College taking the runners-up spot.

The competition was fierce in the other segments as well.


Segment ‘B’

 

Prince of Wales’ College lifted the Cup, Richmond College secured the Plate, and St. Aloysius’ College, Galle won the Bowl.


Segment ‘C’ 


Maharagama Central College achieved Cup glory, Thalduwa Buddhist College clinched the Plate, and St. Anne’s College, Kurunegala walked away with the Bowl.


Division 2


Madeena National School, Madawala were crowned Cup champions in Division 2. S. Thomas’ College, Bandarawela emerged as the Plate winners and Nalanda College claimed the Bowl.


Division 3


Division 3 saw champions emerge from all corners of the island, highlighting the sport’s widespread reach. Notable winners included Zahira College, Mawanella; Sir John Kotelawala College; Mahiyangana National School; Orubendiwewa Secondary School; and Badulla Central College.

Spirited runners-up in this division, who were also recognised for their outstanding efforts, included Hewaheta Central College, Rangiri Dambulu College, Haddaththawa Secondary School, Dehigolla Maha Vidyalaya, and Dharmadutha Central.

The tournament was a true showcase of extraordinary talent, skill, and sportsmanship, reaffirming the enduring passion for school rugby in Sri Lanka.
