Ampitiye Sumanarathana Thera, who was arrested by the Batticaloa Police for allegedly obstructing the duties of officers at the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) office in Batticaloa, has been remanded until today (8).

The monk was arrested in connection with the incident and produced before the Batticaloa Magistrate’s Court, which subsequently ordered that he be remanded.
