A high-level meeting on the prompt destruction of seized narcotic substances was held yesterday (19) at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of Minister Ananda Wijepala.

The discussion focused on legal amendments required to accelerate the destruction process for seized drugs.

According to the President’s Media Division, the proposed legal framework prepared by the Cabinet-appointed committee was presented during the meeting.

The draft amendments are expected to be submitted to the Legal Draftsman’s Department and the Attorney General’s Department for further action
