The Cabinet has approved a proposal by the Health and Mass Media Minister to call for expressions of interest from local manufacturers for supplying medicines and medical items in 2026.

This follows the expiration of existing agreements with 24 manufacturers, selected through a similar process in 2025, which are set to conclude on 31 December 2025.

The call aims to ensure continued local procurement of 130 essential medicines and supplies through a fresh round of technical proposals for next year.
