Preparations for the 2025 Local Government (LG) Elections began today (5), with voting set for tomorrow from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 13,759 polling centers. 

Over 17 million voters will elect representatives for 339 LG bodies.

The Election Commission (EC) confirmed that all arrangements are in place, with over 65,000 police officers deployed for security and nearly 3,000 observers monitoring the polls.

Schools and universities will remain closed on 5 and 6 May reopening on 7 May. 

Key Government services, including the Department of Motor Traffic and vehicle license counters in the Western Province, will also be shut.

Voters yet to receive polling cards can collect them from post offices today and tomorrow.
