The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has ordered that the case against former Member of Parliament Hirunika Premachandra and 14 others, related to an alleged unauthorised street drama near Independence Square in 2022, be revisited on 17 August, 2026. 

The complaint accuses the suspects of causing public inconvenience through their actions.

Today, Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama presided over the hearing, during which police officers informed the court that investigations into the incident have been completed and the files sent to the Attorney General for advice. 

The court subsequently ordered the case to be recalled on the new date to receive updates on the investigation’s progress.

Premachandra and the other accused were present in court when the hearing took place.
