Sri Lanka’s industrial production sector showed a positive growth trend, recording a 0.2% year-on-year increase in its Overall Index of Industrial Production (IIP) in July 2026, according to the latest IIP report released by the Department of Census and Statistics (DCS).
According to the report, the volume of the Index of Industrial Production for the month of July 2026 is recorded at 101.5, an increase of 0.2% compared to the month of July in 2025, which was recorded at 101.3, driven mainly by manufacture of paper and paper products (29.1%), manufacture of electrical equipment (23.7%) and printing and reproduction of recorded media (23.1%).
Meanwhile, the volume of industrial production recorded a 0.02% month-on-month increase in July 2026, with the Index of Industrial Production at 99.0, which was also the same level recorded in June 2026, according to the report.
