An 18-year-old Canadian woman has been arrested by the Sri Lanka Customs Narcotics Control Unit at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for allegedly attempting to smuggle over 35kg of Hashish into the country.

The narcotics, with an estimated street value of over Rs. 352 million, were allegedly concealed in her baggage after she arrived from Toronto via Dubai. The suspect and the seized drugs are to be handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
