The Colombo Stock Exchange recorded another record-breaking performance yesterday (21) with major price indices recording significant gains. The All Share Price Index and the S&P SL20 Index reached record highs.
At the end of the day’s trading, the All Share Price Index increased by 182.58 points to 23,806.32 points, marking the first time that the All Share Price Index has crossed the 23,800 point mark at the end of daily trading.
Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 Index rose by 74.52 points to close at 6,619.32 points at the end of the day.
A record trading turnover of Rs. 9.81 billion was recorded during the day. The highest contribution to the daily turnover was made through shares of Colombo Dockyard Company, where shares worth Rs. 2.65 million were exchanged.
Meanwhile, HNB Bank’s share transactions recorded a turnover exceeding Rs. 1 billion, while Hayley’s share transactions recorded a turnover of Rs. 680 million during the day.
Share price increases in Hayleys, Colombo Dockyard, Sampath Bank, Valibel One and Sri Lanka Telecom contributed significantly to the growth of the All Share Price Index during the day.
