Sri Lanka Customs has shown robust revenue performance in the first weeks of 2026, collecting 106.6 billion rupees in the first 13 days of January over 66% of the monthly target of 160.2 billion rupees, according to official data.
The department has ramped up container clearance efforts since last month, recovering from disruptions caused by Cyclone Ditwah in November, which halted operations for at least four days, and managing higher import volumes in December.
In 2025, Sri Lanka Customs achieved a record revenue of 2,551 billion rupees, exceeding the revised annual goal of 2,241 billion rupees and marking a 64.2% increase from the previous year's 1,553 billion rupees.
For 2026, the revenue target has been set at 2,207 billion rupees—13.5% lower than last year primarily due to an expected decline in car imports.
