Health and Media Minister Nalinda Jayatissa announced plans to build a dedicated Rs 13 billion hospital for cardiac patients near the Colombo National Hospital.

The Minister made the disclosure today(2), while meeting the Mahanayake Theras of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters in Kandy. 

He said the new facility would help ease congestion at main hospitals and provide specialised care.

He also briefed the Theras on the government's plan to establish 100 'Arogya Suwatha Centres' this year, with the fourth and fifth centres set to open in Polgollawatta and Dankanda later that day.
