Former Foreign Minister Professor G.L. Peiris has written to President Dissanayake warning of the serious effects the Middle East conflict could have on Sri Lanka.
He emphasised the need for the government to clarify its stance and response to the crisis.
He highlighted four main impacts: rising oil prices, increasing living costs, declining export revenues, tourism cancellations, and threats to remittance earnings from Gulf workers.
Professor Peiris assured citizens’ support and announced a future public briefing, urging the government to share its plans to help the public participate and prepare for the challenges ahead.
