Former President and Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) leader Maithripala Sirisena left for the United States early this morning (12).
Accordingly, Sirisena boarded an Indian Airlines flight bound for New Delhi at around 02:50 a.m. today, after which he is scheduled to leave for the US.
Meanwhile, new appointments to the board of officials of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) will be made following the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) leader’s return to the island.
As such, State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna is tipped to be appointed as the new UPFA General Secretary.
