Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has returned to Sri Lanka after concluding her official visit to Bhutan, where she attended the 2026 Global Summit on Conscious Food Systems.

During the visit, she met Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and held bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay and Education and Skills Development Minister Yeseang De Thapa.

The Prime Minister also met senior diplomats and representatives of the United Nations Development Programme and other international organisations.

Her official visit took place from 31 August to 5 September, with discussions focusing on strengthening cooperation between Sri Lanka and Bhutan in areas including education, culture, the environment and sustainable development.
