• Vidura College marks occasion of 58 dancers completing their training

Vidura College, Colombo recently held Abises 2023, a ceremony marking the occasion of 58 dancers having completed their training and officially making their debut as Ves dancers. This graduation is marked by the wearing of the traditional headdress and attire – “hisawes” for male dancers, and “sheershabarana” for female dancers.

The ceremony took place at the Ganelanda Purana Raja Maha Viharaya, Kalalgoda on 20 January, and participants and attendees saw various rituals being carried out as part of this traditional “Hisawes Mangalya”.
