Over 4.4 million students across Sri Lanka are set to receive free school uniforms in January 2026. 

The Ministry of Education announced that the initiative is supported by a donation of uniform cloth from the People’s Republic of China. 

An official acceptance ceremony is scheduled for 13 January, with distribution to schools beginning on 19 January to ensure availability for the new academic year.
