A restaurant in Homagama has been fined Rs. 500,000 for selling a 500ml bottle of locally bottled drinking water for Rs. 100.

The Consumer Affairs Authority filed the case after finding the bottle was sold above the applicable maximum retail price of Rs. 70.

The company pleaded guilty before the Homagama Magistrate’s Court, which imposed the fine.
