The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for strong winds and rough seas in sea areas from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Mannar, Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.

Winds of 50–60 kmph and rough sea conditions are expected at times in the affected areas.

Wave heights may rise to 2–3 metres in sea areas from Chilaw to Pottuvil.

Fishing and naval communities have been advised to follow further weather updates.
