Namal Rajapaksa, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser and Member of Parliament, accused the government of trying to pressure the Attorney General’s Department and the judiciary to serve its political aims.
Speaking to journalists at Nelum Mawatha, Rajapaksa expressed confidence that the country’s legal and judicial institutions would resist such influence.
He criticized the current administration for “passing five classes but failing six years,” highlighting its overall poor performance.
Rajapaksa also alleged that the government was fostering division and hostility against political parties, state institutions, and ethnic groups, attempting to create discord along ethnic lines actions he deemed unacceptable.
He emphasised that the SLPP and the Rajapaksa-led politics have historically stood for religious inclusion and protecting all faiths equally, citing past efforts to safeguard religious sites and uphold freedom of worship.
