Prime Minister (PM) Harini Amarasuriya has announced that new education reforms targeting Grade 6 students will be introduced from next year.

She stated that steps are underway to entrust the printing of new school textbooks to the Educational Publications Department under the Ministry of Education.

The Prime Minister made these remarks during a visit to pay her respects to the Chief Sanghanayaka of the Uva Wellassa regions and Chief Incumbent of the Yudaganawa Rajamaha Vihara, Rajakeeya Panditha Most Venerable Galtemwatte Nandarathana Nayaka Thero.

She further revealed plans to establish 50 modern vocational education centres across all 25 districts, aimed at strengthening and enhancing recognition for vocational education in the country
