The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for strong winds and rough seas in sea areas from Kankesanturai to Chilaw via Mannar, and Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

Gusty winds of up to 50–60 kmph are expected, while wave heights could reach 2.5–3 metres in sea areas from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Matara.

Naval and fishing communities have been advised to remain vigilant.
