The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) has announced plans to carry out surprise inspections of state institutions facing efficiency issues. 

Committee Chairman MP Nishantha Samaraweera stated that these inspections will also target institutions with unresolved audit concerns. 

The main goals are to identify management weaknesses, discuss follow-up actions, and summon governing authorities to issue formal recommendations, ensuring better oversight and accountability.
