CIC Holdings reports 20% profit growth in Q1FY27

Diversified conglomerate CIC Holdings PLC (CSE: CIC) recorded continued revenue growth during the first quarter ended 30 June 2026 (1QFY27), delivering improved profitability despite a challenging operating environment. The group posted consolidated revenue of Rs 22.03 billion, reflecting 2.74% year-on-year growth, driven by resilient performance across its diversified portfolio.

Group gross profit rose to Rs 6.01 billion, an increase of 10.26% YoY, with gross margins improving to approximately 27.3%. Group operating profit increased by 12.70% to Rs 3.20 billion, reflecting disciplined execution, improved operational efficiencies, and stronger contributions from key business sectors. Profit after tax increased by a commendable 19.69% to Rs 1.81 billion, while profit attributable to equity holders of the company increased by a significant 23.24% to Rs 1.51 billion.

CIC’s Agri Solutions segment remained the group’s largest contributor, accounting for approximately 45% of total segmental revenue. Livestock Solutions and Health and Personal Care contributed approximately 22% each, while Industrial Solutions accounted for approximately 12% of total revenue.

The quarter was characterised by a strong recovery in Livestock Solutions and Industrial Solutions, with both revenue and profitability recording significant growth. Livestock Solutions continued to benefit from higher feed volumes, poultry demand, and growth in veterinary care, while Industrial Solutions recorded robust growth supported by improved market demand and execution. Although Agri Solutions experienced a decline compared to the corresponding period owing to seasonal factors, it remained the group’s largest business segment and continued to underpin overall performance. Health and Personal Care maintained stable growth, supported by the continued performance of pharmaceuticals and consumer healthcare products.

Group EBIT closed at Rs 3.20 billion, compared to Rs 2.84 billion in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Profit before tax increased by 17.52% to Rs 2.76 billion, while net finance costs increased by 16.38% to Rs 676.67 million, reflecting higher working capital requirements during the period.

During the period under review, key group businesses under the four operating sectors, namely Agri Solutions, Livestock Solutions, Industrial Solutions, and Health and Personal Care, demonstrated resilience. Livestock Solutions revenue increased from Rs 4.45 billion to Rs 4.90 billion, while Industrial Solutions recorded the strongest top-line growth, increasing from Rs 1.87 billion to Rs 2.63 billion. Health and Personal Care revenue increased from Rs 4.73 billion to Rs 4.80 billion, while Agri Solutions recorded revenue of Rs 9.97 billion.

Commenting on the results, CIC Holdings Group CEO Aroshan Seresinhe stated: “The group has made a positive start to FY27, delivering improved profitability through disciplined execution and the strength of our diversified portfolio. Livestock Solutions and Industrial Solutions recorded particularly strong performances during the quarter, while Health and Personal Care continued to deliver stable growth. Although Agri Solutions was impacted by seasonal factors, our long-term commitment to advancing Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector remains unchanged.
