National People’s Power (NPP) MP Asoka Sapumal Ranwala was unanimously elected as the Speaker of Sri Lanka's 10th Parliament during its inaugural session today (21).

Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya proposed his name, seconded by Minister Vijitha Herath. The session began at 10:00 a.m. with the participation of newly-elected MPs.
