The government expects to finalise the agreement for the SINOPEC Oil Refinery Project in Hambantota in the first quarter of 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs(FM) Vijitha Herath stated.

The timeline was conveyed during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his visit to Sri Lanka today(12).

The discussion also covered trade, investment, development cooperation, and tourism, as well as China’s support for post-Cyclone Ditwah infrastructure recovery.
