Three police teams have been deployed to investigate a hand grenade attack on a residence in the Sirisangabo Mawatha area of the Dehiwala Police Division early this morning (11).

Police stated that an unidentified individual carried out the attack, seriously injuring a 55-year-old man and his two children.

The two children, boys aged 11 and 17, succumbed to their injuries after being admitted to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital.

The injured father, who is the father of the two deceased children, remains hospitalised.

Police have not yet determined the motive for the attack or identified the suspects. Investigations are underway to identify and arrest those responsible.
