Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne has launched an investigation into foreign trips made by senior parliamentary officials since 2000, citing cases of excessive and unauthorized travel costing millions in public funds. 

The report is due next month. 

Dhammika Dasanayake has resigned as Secretary of the Constitutional Council, effective 15 May.
