Showers or thundershowers are expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces, as well as the Ampara and Batticaloa districts, after 1.00 p.m. today (01), the Department of Meteorology stated.

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some locations in these areas.

Mainly fair weather is expected elsewhere across the island.

The public has been advised to take precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions are also expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces, as well as the Kurunegala and Anuradhapura districts, during the early morning hours.
