Lecturers of Rajarata University have withdrawn from all duties today(30) and launched a strike.

Chairman of the Rajarata University Teachers’ Association, Professor Nalaka Geekiyanage, stated the action is against the University Grants Commission approving a draft amendment to the University Act before it was passed by Parliament.

He stated that implementing the amendment before enactment affects university autonomy.

Professor Geekiyanage noted that lecturers from all state universities are supporting the strike.
