The Inland Revenue Department has informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate that indictments will be filed against actress Piumi Hansamali over alleged tax evasion amounting to Rs. 225 million.
The department said the case will be taken before the Colombo High Court on the instructions of the Attorney General.
Hansamali, who owns Lolia Skin Care, is accused of failing to pay taxes related to her business operations.
Attorney Dinesh Perera, appearing for the Inland Revenue Department, conveyed the update to court when the matter was taken up on Monday.
