Indian police have, for the first time, uncovered details of a cannabis smuggling operation allegedly supplying Sri Lanka through the Andhra–Odisha border.

The information emerged following the arrest of eight suspects during a raid in the Andhra region, Indian media reported.

According to investigators, the operation was allegedly run by a female, with cannabis stored at a rented house before being trafficked out of the country. Police stated the drugs were intended to be smuggled to Sri Lanka.

During the raid, officers recovered 74 kilograms of cannabis, along with a car, two motorcycles, and several mobile phones from the premises.

Further investigations are underway to identify other suspects involved in the network and to trace its links to Sri Lanka.
