The National People’s Power (NPP) has gained control of the Bandarawela Municipal Council, marking a significant Local Government (LG) win for the party.
NPP councillor Sagaradeera Wishwawickrema was elected Mayor today (11) by a 4-vote majority, following the party’s strong performance in the recent Local Government election.
The NPP secured 6 seats, while Independent Group No. 1 won 5, and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) obtained 3. The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and Independent Group No. 2 each claimed one seat.
