Jenny Green nee Calverly, a visionary school teacher of Girls' High School, Kandy, introduced Netball to Sri Lanka in 1921.

The first ever Netball Encounter between two schools in Sri Lanka was held in February 1925 between Girls' High School, Kandy and Ladies' College, Colombo.

This historic encounter played in 1925 is being brought back to life on 1 February this year, to honour both Jenny Green and Gwen Opie, Principal of Ladies' College.
