President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has welcomed the Saudi Supreme Court’s decision to set aside the death sentence imposed on Sri Lankan national Anojan Sivarasa.

The President noted that the decision brought relief to Sivarasa, his family and Sri Lankans who had followed the case.

He also expressed appreciation to the Saudi Government, diplomats, officials and legal teams involved in the process.

The Government will continue to provide necessary support to Sivarasa and his family as the remaining legal proceedings conclude, the President stated.
