Sri Lanka has improved its position in the 2025 Global Passport Index, climbing 3 spots from 171st to 168th, according to Nomad Capitalist.
The index evaluates passports on visa-free travel, taxation, global perception, dual citizenship potential, and personal freedom.
Sri Lanka scored 43.5 overall, allowing access to 57 countries without a visa or with visa-on-arrival, but it received low marks for global perception and personal freedom.
Among South Asian countries, the Maldives ranked highest at 104th, while Sri Lanka continues to lag behind regional peers like Bhutan and India.
Ireland topped the global list with a score of 109, offering visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 176 countries.
