The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) will launch trade union action tomorrow(17), protesting the failure to address health service issues and doctor concerns in the 2026 Budget.

GMOA Secretary Dr Prabath Sugathadasa announced the action will commence at eight a.m. at hospitals island-wide.

Doctors will limit selected services, including prescribing medicine for external purchase and recommending tests at external laboratories. 

The association stated that the decision was taken because their concerns, previously conveyed to authorities, did not receive a satisfactory response.
