President Anura Kumara Dissanayake reviewed 2025 budget allocations for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and discussed 2026 proposals, stressing the need to fully utilise funds for youth and sports projects. 

He called for a national sports culture, improved infrastructure, talent identification, and integration of training and technology. 

The President ordered expedited renovations of key sports complexes, including Sugathadasa Stadium, and emphasised school sports development.

Officials were instructed to present a new integrated sports development plan soon.
