The Department of Agrarian Development Sri Lanka has decided to keep all agricultural service centres open on weekends and public holidays to support the upcoming Yala season.
Commissioner General Dhammika Ranatunga said the move is aimed at ensuring the timely distribution of fertilizer to farmers.
Officials stated that fertilizer will be issued directly from centres, with a sack priced at Rs. 9,500, while transportation costs will be covered to ease the burden on farmers.
Meanwhile, the National Fertilizer Secretariat confirmed that a shipment of urea fertilizer is expected to arrive in the country by the 6th.
