• Male’s body washes ashore in Modara

A 23-year-old youth has died after drowning in a hotel swimming pool in the Kandawala area of Katana. The deceased has been identified as a resident of Maskeliya, Maussakelle. 

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the victim drowned while swimming with several friends at the hotel pool, said the Police.

Meanwhile, a naked body was discovered washed ashore at the Jayagathpura Beach in Modara, within the Moratuwa-Egoda Uyana Police Division, yesterday morning (22). 

Police have initiated investigations into the incident, following information received by the Egoda Uyana Police Station. Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased is a male, likely between 50-60 years of age.
