The Sarvajana Balaya alliance, led by MP Dilith Jayaweera, has decided to support the Opposition's nominee for Colombo Mayor, opposing the National People’s Power (NPP)candidate. 

The Colombo Municipal Council convenes today (16) for its inaugural session, where the Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be elected. 

With no party securing a majority in the 117-member council, both NPP and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) are vying for support from other factions.
